2. Disconnect the internet
3. Start installation and follow instructions
4. Enter your serial (if you don't have one, google is your friend)
5. When the installation is completed, open a new finder window.
6. Press ⇧ + cmd + G
7. Enter «/private» without the «»
8. Select the private folder and press cmd + i
9. Go to the Permissions tab and click on the little lock.
10. Enter your administrator password and click OK
11. Change the settings of «everyone» to Write and Read.
12. Go in the private folder and do the same for «etc» folder and «hosts» file located in the «etc»
13. Now open the «hosts» file with TextEdit and add the following lines anywhere in the file between «broadcasthost» and «::1localhost»
127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 practivate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 ereg.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate.wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 3dns-3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 3dns-2.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns.adobe.com

14. Save the file and quit TextEdit
15. Reset permissions of «hosts» file and «etc»,«private» folder to Read only

If you have already enter a serial and you can't access to CS4 because they ask you to enter a new serial number.
ReplyDeleteYou can run the following command in Terminal before you enter a new serial(don't forget to do the hosts file trick):
sudo rm /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/Adobe\ PCD/cache/*
help. I tried the above and now the software does not open at all. Bridge will open, but not PS,AI,or ID. Was not able to enter the Terminal command ("cannot write to..." was response).
